The Benefits of Kits, Books, and Single Patterns
Skill Level Different sewing projects require different skill sets and some are appropriate for the beginner and others for the more advanced sewer or quilter. Realistically assess your skill level and select an appropriately matched pattern to avoid frustration. On the beebolt website, there is an icon identifying projects that are good for beginners to make it easy to get started.
Kits Kits are not cheating, they are convenient and they make great gifts! You are busy and a kit option helps you get to the sewing machine as fast as possible. Kits are pre-packaged with coordinated fabrics and instructions. Most items needed to complete a project are included. On the beebolt website we make our best effort to call out what is not included in a kit in the product descriptions. Please note that most quilt kits do not include the fabric for the backing or binding, nor do they include batting.
Books Are you an explorer? A book is a the choice for you and it is a great value because it includes multiple projects. You should expect to see images of the finished projects, well written instructions, helpful diagrams and an indication as to skill level necessary to successfully complete each project.
Single Patterns Just the thing for the person who knows exactly what they want to make! Typically, a single pattern has instructions for one specific project with slight design variations or size options. Check out the back of the pattern for detailed information on materials needed and sizing. When doing garment sewing - it is very important to measure the person who will be wearing the garment and determine the appropriate size by using the chart on the back of each individual pattern.
